Mark Love

It all began in the Summer of 1997 when my little brother walked into my bedroom with Equipment that ive only seen on TV. He then explained that it was Dj equipment (Sound Labs) Belt driven and very worn in. I didnt have a clue what to do with them let alone what direction and places it was going to take me. Being a bedroom Dj i didnt have any help let alone advice on how to even know what mixing was blending and timing records. At that time i was into Pirate radio stations, Dj EZ was i feel at the top of his gain so i understood 2 Step and House music, so i would hunt down the Vinyls he mixed with and copy the mix to understand blending and timing. I would do this for up to 2-4 hours a day, a second revision i called it.

Up’s and downs

Through out the years Djing was only a hobby a pleasure for private partys and small events, Offers came to the table but i always felt i was never good enough. Pacha and Ministry Of Sound was major offers that i turned down, I was only young and i had lots to learn.
In 1997 my friend from school come round to learn and jam on the decks, we both would pick up tricks and mixing skills that friend was Luke Harman. He eventually bought the decks and the equipment from me. I saved hard and moved up to Technics 1210′s and a pioneer mixer and began to record my mixing and learn from my mistakes.

The year ill never forget

In the year of 2008 Luke went on to win a Dj competition with Kiss 100, i sat in the crowd one happy friend and excited for my mate’s mixing and versatility that won over the strong crowd of celebrities alike. Not long after his major triumph Luke rung and told me of a Dj competition with a promotion company and dj outfit called << REWIND. Nerves run like mad, i began to practice through out the week, a genre of House and Garage was the trick to win over this crowd i thought?.

I turned up at the club, and looked at the other dj’s i was going up against. 10 dj’s playing a mix of House, Garage and DnB. How was i going to beat these? Select Uk’s very own John Trill was up. Another house Dj and Garage dj, DnB and then another house Dj. They was all good but i knew i was going to do better, I did and went on to win all 3 rounds. It was me and DnB DJ at the final heat, i went 2nd and wiped the floor with him £100 and trophy to gain for my nerves and excitment. The crowd went crazy, that was a feeling that i will never be able to create again in my dj career no matter how hard i try.

Love&harmony

Mark Love was the name given to me by Luke harman and Love&Harmony was born in the summer of 2008, 2 Dj competition winner taking the clubs by storm. Love&Harmony promotions began and went on achieve and be very successful on the club scene, i have also played at mostly every major club in london and abroad.

Where next for Mark Love? i wanted people to hear my music not only at clubs once of twice a month but Radio as well, through out my Dj career Radio Stations came and went. I couldnt find a decent home for my love of House and Garage music.
My love for house music and the different genre of house was escalating, Garage was becoming a back burner and the vinyl soon began stored away. Not for long i hope, Garage will and always will be my first love but house has taken to my vains.

In august 2010 i recived a call from Select uk management and was asked if i would like to showcase my music and bring something different to the station. I agreed and Mondays on Select Uk have never been the same, 6-8 in the evening was a show all very different. I brought different genres of house and bootlegs alike and my favourite music for the summer, Latino house.
Latin house has always been a crowd pleaser of mine, when i first started on the major curcuit of eleite dj’s, Latino house was always dropped to bring a differnt mood to the floor, so i brought this to my show. From 7.00 on my show The Latino House take over show went crazy for Latino house, request for cds and digital downloads sent my Emails and the radio phone in mental.

What is next for Mark Love and Select uk Radio

Moving my show from Mondays to Wednesday has given me time to take my show forward, Bringing on guest Djs and producers for live interviews. Bringing something a whole lot different to Pirate radio and taking Select uk forward. Wednesday from 8-10 will be a show of one of a kind im sure.
