Since the pilot scheme at Crystal Palace FC in 2009 Onelife UK have opened 9 more courses and have also started outreach works shops across London. The courses have proven to enhance Literacy, Numeracy and ICT skills as well as the children’s ability to communicate and work as team, and helped develop self regard and confidence in general. Early studies show that participants response to curriculum and the attitude shown towards staff and other students has increased by a minimum of 20%.
Achievements
2007 Mete and Wayne were awarded with the British Heart Foundation Gold Heart Award.
2008 they won the Our Hero Award from the Shell Petrol and South London Press Awards.
2009 they were awarded £1000 from Barclays Bank Let’s Do It Campaign to launch the Dance Academy pilot scheme at Crystal Palace FC, a 6 week course providing young people with the chance to mix and produce their own music using modern IT techniques helping them to develop IT and team skills, and build confidence in a rich and entertaining environment.
2010 Mete and Wayne were chosen to be judges for the Shell Petrol and South London Press Heroes awards and for the Spirit of London Awards with the Sun newspaper and have become Ambassadors for Families united bringing something both interesting and unique to the government initiative Count Me In.Mete and Wayne were invited to 10 Downing St. to meet the Prime minister, after having an audience with HRH Prince Charles in Westminster Cathedral.
2011 Mete and Wayne were chosen to be judges for the Spirit of London Awards at the Royal Albert Hall and also organised the after party event.
2012 We will be playing the end of the world party for sure !! lol !!
