Steve began DJing at 13 in school. His brother was Manager of a record shop for 10 years, and listening to early radio & club Soul & Funk DJ legends like Robbie Vincent, Chris Hill & Greg Edwards, collectively they greatly influenced Steve. His first paid DJ job was aged 15 where he DJ’d in Bethnal Green, Hackney & Bow and gradually amassed a sizeable record collection. Tony Monson, a pioneer of London’s Soul radio stations, got to hear of Steve and invited him to join Horizon Radio (1975) where he learned the basics of radio broadcasting. 1 year after Tony started Solar Radio and Steve joined this station. All in all Steve has broadcasted on radio stations most of his DJ career.
